Default iridescent / pearlescent / flip paint

Hey, new to the forum. Just got a used 2007 Civic. Got rid of my 1997 Accord. My first mod is actually going to be paint instead of the typical fart can, intake, wheels, or calipers...

I've fallen in love with the idea of a dark blue paint that fades into black.

I've been having a hell of a hard time trying to find information on how or where to get this (thread title) type of paint for my car. Is there an OFFICIAL name for this type of paint? Or a specific process name to get the paint this way? This is the first time google has ultimately failed me.

Can anyone please help me out? Thanks!

to my knowledge... it should be a blue paint (what ever shade you're going with) with a dark metallic flip... that blue eclipse looks like when u look at it straight on.. its has a light metallic then when you look at it from an angle it has a dark flip... is that the effect you're looking for?

if you're looking for a paint that fades into black thats different... thats just making the color darker as they fade the paint gradually

Hey man what your looking for is a kameleon pearl made mainly by House of Kolor ( yes spelled with a K) or you can look at the dupont website. The color of these color shifting from the dark blue to black or whatever other color you want is acheived because your car is painted black first and then the color shift pearl spayed over that and then your clear coat thats why their called 3 stage paints. If your sold on this type of paint one thing to keep in mind is to find a no **** good painter who is familiar with custom paints because it cant be spayed like normal base/clear. Also if you get in a fender bender or something like that the whole car has to be repainted not just the fender that got screwed up. you cant color match with this stuff the color lightness or darkness is all dependant on how many coats of kameleon have been spayed on so if you even get one bad scratch and want it fixed the whole car will have to be repainted. Just giving you a heads up i painted for 10 years and have alot of experience using these paints and this is something most people dont know before they blow a crap ton of money on a paint job. Your really better off going with a really cool dark blue or something especially if your car is a daily driver and will get scratches, ping dents etc. Sorry really not trying kill your hopes just informing you.
