What car is this going into? The y8 makes 2 more hp. As far as rod strength I couldn't tell you. Whats your goal? Boost? If you are worried about it just build it first, then it really wouldn't matter. Whatever you can get a better deal on.

its just a motor im building. i wanna keep a stock bottom end forr now. i was curious as to which bottom end was stronger. theres just going to be a z6 head with some head work and a stage 1 cam in it with some nitrous got everything except the bottom end so i was trying to see which was better

both blocks are pretty much the same...

Once you pass 225whp... Rods are gonna start giving out... And thats goes for all D16 blocks...

The rods are the same strength. But the Z6 block is better because the Z6 crank has 2 oil holes per rod bearing instead of 1 on the Y8.

its usually because people build the heads and then rev the **** out of them. The problem in general with D blocks is that they are not made to rev high at all. Even with a built head the bottom end just cant handle high rev's.

well ya, but people put cams in there that make power through 8k. But in order to rev that high all the time you would need to do something to your oil pump. My D16 Makes power through 7200, i have a mild cam though.
