Default crvtec/h22/gsr/ls-t?

Im so torn right now.. ok.. let's say i have about 4k to spend.. I wanna go fast.. but sometimes i think about it, is it necessarily to go stupid fast? I wanna be fast enough to smoke the local rustangs and camaro's. Lately these ideas have been on my mind. Crvtec is fast for n/a.. and i was wondering how much would a built crvtec run me? A h22 would be around 4g at least..and the gsr is around 3500. With a h22 i would be fast but then wouldnt the crvtec also be as fast n lighter? The ls-turbo is one of the biggest bang for buck also but i don't know if i should go with it due to maintenance and tuning on the turbo. Mid 13's would be nice.. I also can get jobber prices on some of the products. What should i go for? Thanks in advance.

First off, what car is this going in...?

The ls-turbo is one of the biggest bang for buck also but i don't know if i should go with it due to maintenance and tuning on the turbo.
The CRVtec will require just as much upkeep and tuning as an LS-T. The H22 is nice if you just plan on going in a straight line (understeer city).

IMHO if you want a reliable (ie daily driven) setup go for a B18C swap and build off that...

Look at my sig... been both ways and the turbo B20 (or even LS) is going to cost more than a H22 swap.

As for the reply about bad oversteer and can't corner... a H22 Civic corners and handles well, and can just as well (if not better, depending on suspension setup and driver) handle like a B-series swap in a Civic. I take my H22 hatch out road racing more & more now, and it's still fast as fawk on the straight line, but now handles great and can take on a lot of cars on the road course with ease. You have to drive both setups to see how they feel, not just hear what people have to say.

hey i can order you a h22 for 2500. engine (97) tranny, ecu and wiring harness. I will even make sure you get at least a 90 day warrenty. I think i can get longer but i cant promise that till its ordered. I have set of pistons, rods, rings and arp bolts used for 400 miles only, ill throw in for 1200. So you will be built for less than 4k

It's great that yours handles so nicely, but the majority of them don't? Shall we talk about traction issues also? Or axle breakage...?

Sure you can get them for $2xxx.xx, but then add all the other stuff you need such as mounts, suspension, axles, etc... and you're "cheap+powerful" swap is not so cheap any more. Just swap a B18c5 in if you are going to put out that amount of $...

Also, You don't know me, so don't assume things about me...

Most people with B series swaps don't run with them on totally stock suspension/brakes...why do you assume people with H22 swaps do? I don't know anybody with a b18c5 swap and a stock suspension...and I don't know anybody with an h22 swap and a stock suspension....

How can you say they don't handle right?

My total swap, with new timing belt/waterpump/oil pump/ all dopey other lil engine parts, CM clutch & flywheel, with mounts, proper axles, a/c bracket and all wiring installed is $300-$400 less than what JUST a b18c5 would cost without tax or shipping to my house.

Broken axles are only a problem if you don't have the right setup.

with a b18c5, you'll still have traction issues...just only after 4-5K RPM or so...

same with the h22..only you'll have traction issues all the way from low RPM to redline....

mmm...TQ.

I'm not saying they are on stock suspension. I'm talking soft spring rates, weak shocks, etc...

How can you say they don't handle right?
I'm saying they are more prone to understeer...

How much did you pay total?

axles are only a problem if you don't have the right setup.
What would be the right setup, and how much would it cost?

b18c5, you'll still have traction issues...just only after 4-5K RPM or so...

And that's supposed to make me want one more...?

mmm...TQ
We all like TQ, but what are you willing to sacrifice to get it...?

Just remember this is all my opinion. Nothing to get upset over...

Right now i have a jspec b18c in a 4 dr civic which runs very, very good. I love my motor. But sometimes i wish i would have gotten the h22. I've know a guy who has a coupe with a h22 with i/h/e and he ran like a 14.1 and that was just because he couldn't get traction. If he could have gotten traction he definetly would have been somewhere in the mid 13's. If i were you i would not mess with all that b20 or ls vtec. It's a big hassle. If i were you my choices would be either b18c5 or h22. Either way you're going very fast with stock motors so it's reliable. If you go with h22 just make sure you got drag radials and some good mounts
