relocated my battery and intake, have a question
so i got this idea of using my sri and making it into somewhat what of a cai. i was on ep hatch and saw that guardian made a dyi battery relocate. so i got to work. i cut my sri and make it so it would go to the existing area where the stock battery went.. on my transmission i noticed that there something that looks like it should have a plug or hose. i dont know what goes there. can some tell me. oh and they mod made my car run a day and night difference. i couldn't be any happier.

any anybody know what goes there on the tranny?? i put a hose to it and to the wheel well for now. but im tryn to get it fixed like right now. if anyone knows thanks.
Wow I'm actually impressed with something you've done for once, good work.
How did you secure the battery in the trunk so it doesn't slide around?

couple of things, first is that battery fused at the battery itself, and second you have heavy gauge wires running under your upholstery without even running them in looms? and third those straps are NOT going to hold that battery in a crash, lots of people have been killed by flying batteries in wrecks doing that. That battery will have a huge amount of force trying to break those straps in a wreck. you have an accident/fire waiting to happen there. plus that plastic box is not going to protect you from acid spills in the same said wreck. why are you even runing a standard battery when you could run something like an odyssey, which is much lighter, eaisier to bolt down, doesn't leak acid and doesn't outgas. also remember that battery in the plastic box, they do,even in this day and age occasionally explode. standard battery full of hydrogen gas, one small spark and BOOM!! you have a car bomb full of sulfuric acid. not trying to bust your ***** or anything, but thats an accident waiting to happen.

not trying to bring his mood down, i'm just stating facts, If i see something dangerous i'm not just going to look at it and not say anything. A lot of people don't know what happens in a crash. I've been trying to find the fifth gear where they crashed the car with stuff in the back, a tool box not even half that weight, tore through the back seat and decapitated the dummy in the car. the battery needs to go in a metal box bolted down first, summt, jegs, and most other places carry them,it needs a maxi fuse or breaker right off of the battery, to protect the car, that wire needs to be run inside of a loom to protect it from abrasion, i used air hose in mine,4 gauge cable slides nicely through it and it's tough. bringing someones mood down? how about their mood when their car catches fire and burns up, or someone in the car dies after being hit with the battery. I'm trying to point out the flaws so they can be corrected not "ruin someones mood" this isn't "I don't like a car color or style" this is something that can kill you or badly injure you if it's not fixed.

Ok idea, this is how I made the piece that holds my spare tire in the hatch area, I assume these have a spare tire well in the back? i used a piece of 3/8 thick steel bar that bolts across the spare tire well under the floorboard material, the spare tire bolts to this bar. if one was moved up to just behind the rear seats, the tire could still be taken in and out, and this would give a solid anchor point for the battery hold downs. the case would need to be bolted to the bar, and the battery retaining hardware would go through the case and screw into the bar also. You need good hardware, those made in china threaded bolts from walmart? fine under the hood, not safe inside of the car.

I moved my battery to the trunk but have no issues getting my spare tire out. I used an Odyssey mini battery :D

thats what i'll be doing but I'm going to run a pc625 from them, this is what the battery will mount in, the brackets the battery fits into bolt through the floor pan, then the hold downs screw into nuts welded onto the brackets. that particular odyssey battery will slide perfectly into this box. they may be tiny but there's a lot in that battery. the days of the old dinosaur battery are numbered. OEM manufacturers are putting this style of battery in new cars as well. why run a heavy battery that leaks, outgasses, may explode and weighs three times as much? these do the same thing with higher technology.

mini batterys have no cold cranking amps....in short, they suck in winter........pick up a battery for a 06-09 miata mx5.....same specs as the ep3 in a sealed battery designed to be in the trunk.
Me too!! I'm still rocking my OEM 03 battery haha. Couldn't even start my car this morning. I'm thinking because it's so cold and the battery is worn out but it might be my starter. We'll see, but either way I think I'm going to need a new battery.

it's how they measure, I know odyssey measure their cca at 0 degrees, most of the old batteries measure at 32 degrees. you have to adjust for the temp they measure at and it comes out about the same. EDIT: sorry that was for the post about them not having any cca
Base or type-s?...the base has the same cca as the ep3....these are the batteries a lot of the miata people use...
