bad clutch or bad tranny?
So I'm running a stock ls tranny on my b16. Bout 3 days ago 3rd gear began to grind, so I figured my synchro went bad, ne ways today I was driving and all of a sudden my tranny started like whistling/screeching, not very loud, I could hear fine inside of car but not outside. My clucth pedal got really stiff/hard and when I would put into any gear, even reverse, after releasing clutch car still wouldn't move. So I think its just the clutch but wanted to see what u guys said
could be a variety of things, my guess would be release bearing is seizing up
but whatever it is you must remove your tranny and inspect this problem.
so it doesn't really matter what it is, what matters is you remove the tranny and fix it.
check tranny oil level, fill if needed.
that really the only thing you can try without removing the tranny.

Ok that sounds reasonable, it could be release bearing, explains why clutch is stii, but how do I fix that? Replacing it? And how can u tell if clutch is bad once off car? And if release bearing is seizing, why isn't car moving?
