Icon2 CODE 8 CODE 17 ???

i have a 1989.Honda civic hatch 5 speed .Ed.6

Correct
me if im wrong but for CODE 8. is a new distributor rite???or new DTC,but from my knowledge DTC are not sold separately .. rite?

Any (Diagrams) of where the speed sensor is located at?FOR A CODE:17?
Notice: one thing My Speedo cable is not pluged into my cluster, do to the fact that it snapped when dropping in a new tranny.question is will this have anything to do with a (CODE:17)

Any useful help is Welcome thank you.

Your speedo cable needs to be plugged in or it will toss code 17.

Code 8 probably means a new dizzy, unless you just changed some wiring?

cool I Understand why Code 17 come up Now.

,but i guess Code 8 is still unresolved, since the only changes that i did was All New :tranny, clutch,(front)brakepads, clutch cable. Can you define "dizzy," based on my situation ?

Thanx.

Dizzy is slang for distributor. I would resolve code 17 and reset the ECU, see if code 8 comes back. Make sure all your grounds are hooked up and tight also!!!

ok cool , so i checked it out today, and one of the spark plug cables that goes to the Dizzy (<--lol) i think # 4 had the input pushed back, meaning that it did not go into the out put ,which caused my #4 spark plug ,with no SPARK really pizzed me off tomorrow i will go NGK on SPARK PLUG CABLES AND SPARK PLUGS ?will take any other suggestions For the sparks and plugs ???. Other than that i guess what im trying to do, is to not sped to much cash (i am a student ), by buying the DIZZY .i think that maybe it was just the messed up spark plug cable that SET OFF A FALSE Alarm to the ecu . maybe Correct me if im wrong .thanx for the help .

Ok. Code 8 is gone fixed my spark plug wires, code 8 is no more! Code 17 still shows up do to the fact that i ran out of time to connect the speedo in to the cluster, but will be taken care of. ....Lesson learned from this, Code:8 can be set off by a messed up wire so first check your wires are good on both sides and restart Ecu ,and if code 8 lights up again, then that means is a for sure new dizzy. thanx all to everyone that helped
