what oil filter and oil do you use?
Well I recently spent a very large amount of money and this area of the site now pertains to me. I'm new to the ITR and I want to take care of my investment and make sure the engine runs great for a long time. I am a huge fan of synthetic oil, with that said what oil should I be running in it? I usually go for the Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic. Then what oil filter should I use? I hear Fram is junk? I see some places have the HAMP/JDM Honda oil filters that have a real stiff bypass spring? I'm not sure if thats good or bad. I hear Mobil 1 makes a good oil filter. I also here that the USDM Honda oil filters are pretty cheap in quality so i'm kind of staying away from that. So what do you run? What should I get?
locally, the mobil 1 and k&n filters are going to be the best quality. i thought all oem honda filters were being made by honeywell aka fram. someone chime in on this and the s2000 filter which is so common.
oil wise? who knows
valvoline full syn seems to burn less than mobil 1
redline and amsoil are probably the two best but you pay for it

not sure on who makes what, but i have run fram on all my vehicles for the past 10 yrs and have had not one issue, one of them is a tubocharged gsr going strong for 2yrs now with fram oil filters, i think its all a matter of opinion.

so its a bigger filter but doesnt that mean you get a drop in oil pressure? Or is it where you just dont have to change them as often? I ordered HAMP and from what I have been told and what I was reading they are good oil filters. I got a super deal on them but I bought enough for like 3 years worth of oil changes using synthetic oil.
15400-PLM-A02 FILTER, OIL (HONEYWELL)
15400-PLC-004 FILTER, OIL (TOYO ROKI) - discontinued
Filtech used to make those oem honda oil filters 15400-plm-a01 which now supercedes to 15400-plm-a02 and are unfortunately made by honeywell.
Those s2k filters (15400-pcx-004) are still made by filtech and work on all b, d, h, & f series motors.
Around ~$6 bucks?
15400-PLM-A01 (Filtech) + 94109-14000 (drain washer) + Royal Purple 5W30 =

the 15400-PLM-A01 Filtech's are not discontinued. we get cases of them all the time. they seem to send them at random. then i buy like 5 to made sure i have them on hand for my R.
Honda does supersede them as the want (actually just ship them as they want, ours still come up as A02s in the system). you usually need to know someone working on the Honda counter that cares to get a A01 filter.
we retail people at $9.22 for the PLM, $15.something for the PCX lol... .72 for the washer (94109-14000).

Royal Purple 5w30 + OEM Honda
Will be running Motul 8100 + Mugen Filter next.
Apparently from my friend who is running Motul 8100 burns little to no oil (with vtec-ing) between fuel ups.

They're probably not available in Canada though, nothing is
I myself have never heard of engine failure do to using the wrong brand of filter but maybe there is some story out to support this argument. I've always used the little blue OEM filter on all my Honda cars.
