clicking from wheels since I lowered my car???
I got the Skunk2 coilovers and sport shock, and put em on 2 days ago on my 91 Integra..... I love the set up, and it rides pretty well.... I have it pretty much slammed and got my alignment.... but now, today starting the worst, I get a constant clicking sound that mostly sounds like it's coming from the passenger side... I THINK it's the CV axles, but it even does it when I'm rolling straight... pretty bad too... the camber is pretty bad, lol, because if I adjust it, it'll scrub my fenders.... I have seen hondas and acuras as slammed as mine, so I know it should be fine.... Could it be a wheel bearing, or maybe even the diff in the transmission?? Cause it does it most when I'm accelerating.... I dunno?? It seems like a CV, but I think its odd that it does it when I'm going straight..... can ya'll help me out, if you got some info?? Thanks
Its more than likely the CV boot. Had a car do the same thing to me once. when i accelerate it did it bad than when i let off it didnt do it so bad. Best bet would take the axle out and if its broke you'll be able to feel it right away. It'll be loose. Lets us know what you find out.
cool.... I'll check it out.... my other question is this, do you think getting some DSS performance axles would help that out and last longer?
well, I'm thinking more the cv JOINT, than the boot..... I think my boot is fine, compared to what I've seen of it, doing the install.... but the joint sounds screwed... but what I wanta know is, do you think getting performance axles, will decrease the chances of them going out on me again? I'm thinking that the performance axles, like DSS, would have stronger joints than advanced/auto zone axles would?? I'm trying to prevent this from happening again!!! I'm not trying to replace my axles every month or two.... I wanta find a nice, strong axle to go with, so I can get this settled... not a cheap fix... what do ya'll think?? come on, someone has to have some kind of information for me??
not going to lie, i love da's. but seriously, joints will last a really long time. in my experience, the joint goes bad shortly after the cv boot rips and the grease flys out, and the joint has no lube which causes failure. i could be wrong. my family friend mechanice had a 89 accord with bad joints. He dorve for 3 years like that, just nice and easy and it lasted.
And another thing, comparing tire ware. incorrect toe will cause 10x worse tire ware than negative camber...i lowered my car, no alignment, and 3 months later a set of perfectly new tires had to be replaced cause my toe was "in"...got tires, alignment, and negative camber, and never had an issue with tire ware.

I had a da not rip the cv boot and the joint was broken like i believe jizzle1981's is. It wasn't as low as his but i my joints went before the boot did.
I would have to say yes. upgraded axles would help out in my eyes.
