Icon2 1992 Accord LX Ignition issue

Hi all,

I have a 92 Accord LX, and sometimes when I go to start the engine, it will start and then instantly die, regardless of whether the engine is hot or cold. Other times the engine will just turn over and not start. Sometimes when I stop, some of the dash lights will come on, then slowly dim and then the engine will stall, and it may or may not start again. Other days it works great with no problem at all. I have found that by holding the key in a position inbetween start and run, it will run fine, but I can't do that since it's a manual.

I have done a little bit of research and found that some people said it could be the main fuel relay, and I did some tests and it seems to be working ok, I hear it click when I turn the key to run after the fuel pump stops working. My father said it could be a clogged fuel filter, but I'm not sure because the engine seems to run fine when it gets going. On this forum I have read of similar symptoms being caused by a faulty electrical portion of the ignition switch. I ordered a new one yesterday, and now want to know how to install it when it gets here. If you guys think it may be something else, let me know as well. Thanks for any information, I'd like to have this taken care of before winter sets in.
