Hey what's up guys I was wonderig how much u guys pay for you're monthly payment on insurance? I am 18 and thinking about investing my hard earned money and funds from selling my 90 integra as a down payment on a R I have the rest of the money thanks to a bank loan and financial aid I was just wondering the estimate it would be for full coverage on a Type R. Yes I will be living off with top ramen noodles jk. If this thread has already been made kindly direct me to a link thank you

 

While I don't own an ITR, I certainly looked at getting one and a good friend owned one for many years before finally selling it.

I will tell you based on his experience, what I've read in the ITR forum, and my personal experience owning both my modified Accord and S2000 that you do not want that worry on your head if you're in college (you saying financial aid leads me to believe you are) You don't want to park them out in the open, leave them unattended for long periods, etc.

Being 18 and male and owning a highly sought after (read: stolen) car is not going to be cheap insurance. Toss on all the dents, dings, knicks, etc you're guarenteed to get in college and it really is not worth it til you can afford to garage it.

 

It all depends on where you live. Metro areas tend to be more expensive than suburbs.

Im paying $139.62/month. Full coverage.

 

Paid off, 61.10 a month, full coverage.

 

I pay 880 a year. 20 years old with full coverage.

I'm paying $1536.00 CDN per year but It's really only insured (aside from fire and theft) between March and October.
Not my daily driver. I'm 32, Married, and never been in a collision.

 

Here in BC, the insurance pricings are monopolized by one corporation so you can't shop around. I'm 20 and I'm paying $231.09 a month, full coverage.

I have a clean record and had my license since i was 15 1/2 years old and im worried that my insurance will be high because i live in California if it matters but yeah i will be garaging the car if i purchase it and yeah thinking about thieves is really scary. Do you thinking downgrading to a GSR is better? or will it be the same? Thieve and Insurance wise?

im 26 now and pay like 130bucks a month for both my cars (R + beater). and i got a singe fat *** speeding ticket on my record.

i would shop around, BUT i would make sure your insurance company KNOWS the difference between a R and some pos teggy. i would start by calling your current insurance for a quote, its super easy.

 

Well I live in Newport News, VA and 20 yrs of age. Had one speeding ticket and failure to yield ticket back when I was like 16. Gotten into one accident but it wasn't my fault.

And I own a 2001 PY R. I have a couple discounts on my insurance such as "steer clear" and muti-car discount since I still live with my mom.

total I pay per month for Full Coverage with State Farm is $220.00

Take the advice from someone that is basically where you are at:
-I go to school currently and working to pay for the loan and insurance of the car is a PAIN IN DA ***!!!
-You will barely have money to fix anything that may possibly go wrong on the R, cuz with owning an R you want the best products if you fix or mod it.
-Driving to school and ****, (assuming it will be your daily since you might not be able to afford a DD also) you gonna rack up not only miles but dings, dents, etc.

Don't get me wrong cuz as any can vouch on here that have driven/own a type R that it moves majestically and is an awesome *** car, BUT if i could go back, I would have just bought something that is a bit less cheaper (i.e.: civic, integra, 240, and the list goes on).

Turning 30 this year.... it may be cheaper by itself but I split insurance cost with my GF and her car is an 07

now im 23 and pay $38 a month for my 98 ITR and $38 for my 91 240sx under geico

i live in PA and have about 5 tickets on my record from when i was between 17 and 19 and had 5 points on my license until i was 20.

Insurance varies with a variety of factors. Why don't you just ask your insurance company how much your premiums will be? That will give you a more accurate idea than hearing from people who don't live where you do, who are older/younger than you, etc. You can do that before you actually decide whether or not to buy the car. You can also find out rates from multiple companies on the websites Insweb.com and Insure.com.
