Default clutch fluid leaks inside car

My clutch pedal area has fluid stains. I replaced the clutch fluid. Why is it leaking. I have heard about checking out the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder (near the starter, on the front side of the engine close to passenger head light but way lower). Shifting gears sux too. Bushings? What can I do myself to get my car in better shape. Thanks in advance

buy another clutch master cylinder, their easy as hell to find at junkyards (integras and civics work) or a new one is like 40$ i think

I had the same problem. I went ahead and replace both the master and slave cylinders even the master was bad(leaking). Your hard shifting is cause by air in the lines. You will need to bleed out the air when you replace the cylinder.

Your symptom means the clutch master cylinder seals have failed. Check the clutch fluid reservoir and it is probably low, too, meaning shifting is going to be awful to none. It is customary to replace both the clutch master and clutch slave cylinders at the same time, because it is filth in the system that is destroying the seals. I just replaced the CMC and CSC a month ago on my 93 Civic DX, using new ones from NAPA for $70 for both. Drain and flush the system some. Replace the cylinders (bench bleed as best you can. Fill and bleed the system. Bleeding is a little tricky compared to bleeding brakes. Post back for hints.
