Default Swap regret?

Anyone regret swapping out there D?

I went from a z6 with a little turbo in my coupe, to ---> a b18b, gsr lsd trans, t3/t4 turbo.
The z6 was so well rounded in that car with a little turbo.

Well rounded, meaning I could rip on it, and never feel like I was out of control.

Lots of things bother me a little... maybe my expectations were wrong.

I have to be careful with the gas pedal now...

and gas mileage has taken a dive. 30 to about 25.

also 5th gear with a GSR trans, the gearing is not long enough for me, 3000 rpms at 65mph, just trying to cruise, bleh. I cant imagine cruising with a newer Type R trans...

honestly had thoughts of selling the swap, or the whole car. maybe I'm getting old.

i just swapped out my b16a2 for a b18c5. it feels pretty natural, however the highway is a pain.... tranny is so short.

I actually have an LS trans in the garage with a bad reverse ... was giong to use it, but no reverse...

So.. I could potentially use the fifth gear from that transmission.
Is there a good write up on doing the 5th gear swap?
Maybe I would be happier with the swap, if I could cruise at lower rpms again.

What would my rpms be like then? ...since I would still have the 4.4 final drive.

so your saying you liked the D because it was slower and you could control it better doesnt make real sence to me if you feel outa control with the B no offence but practice driving and get in under control and the gsr 5th isnt that bad on the freeway at all LS is to long gsr is a little to short not to bad but for turbo LS is the perfect tranny so you should think about investing in fixing your LS tranny longer gears= more power more boost

yeah,
I do need more seat time with this swap, no arguement there. > a week with it running now. Takes a while to find where the wheel spin stops.

I think at this point I (me the driver) was actually faster with the D turbo overall.
I was really accustom to the turbo D.

I'm thinking the LS 5th gear swap is a better option.
I can keep the better syncros, and factory LSD.

i've never owned a single...swapped my GSR for an LS and i regretted that, but i blew up the GSR so didnt have much of a choice.

I swapped out the LS for a K20, and did not regret that one bit.

K20 is now out, and K20/K24 is going in, and i doubt i will regret that.

I personally would. The GSR trans with lsd is great but I prefer having a longer overdrive a well for highway. This link will tell ya where the two different 5th gears will put you at RPM-wise, just enter your tire/wheel size and redline.

Get rid of the gsr tranny and get a newer ls tranny, somebody will trade you plus a couple hundred sounds good.
LS=Boost
GSR=VTEC

Well it's going to depend on exactly what kind of performance goals the OP is looking for. While having more HP through boost will allow the LS trans to cut through a bit more, you also have to take into consideration how low rpms will drop between each gear, factory LSD or not... etc.

One thing I would do personally if I were looking for straight performance would be to see which transmission puts me and KEEPS me in the powerband for my tune better. From there one could tweak final drive/5th gear/wheel size if need be.
