Which Coilover for the DC2?
I bought a car from my brother two years back, and he had on the progress coilovers. It was one of the first versions back in 2000/2001. They seem like a pretty good coilover all in all. But a shock blew and I got tired of hearing the coilover extending so fast that it was making a bang. anyway I put the stock rear susp back on. I must say for the way I drive, this system work pretty well in corners, I can't believe the cornering speed on these all season tires. My point is, it is time for new coilovers, and the progress does not seem very stiff to me, I mean I can tolerate much stiffer cause I am a motorsport nut, yet I lack knowledge in susp. No one else drives or rides my car. Do I just go with the real stiff stuff? What is quality and what is inexpensive is a big concern, but more toward quailty. I want something with a little less understeer.

I think the new coilovers from progress are 8kg/mm front and 12kg/mm rear for there "time attack" coilover, which is the only one I've seen with stiffer rear than front, but we want that rear end stiffer, don't we?
What I've also noticed was that the same product will have different spring rates on different websites i.e. Tein Type Flex is 9kg/mm front 4kg/mm rear on one website and 10kg/mm 7kg/mm on another

Why don't you see if they can rebuild the coilovers you have now. If not and you were gonna spend around $1000 + anyways go with AMR, lifetime warranty choose what rates you want your shock valved for. Or as David had mentioned Koni/GC Lifetime warranty as well.
I tried but the first version were outdated and they would not do it, also I really don't know of a good shop around here that could do it for me. I actually want a stiffer ride as these stillhave some body roll and dive. I have an idea for a front spring rate but not sure were to start with the rear, cause I can always get a bigger reear sway to have the rear kick out a little more, right? I suppose GC allows you to pick your spring rates. if that is true, how would I know for certain the koni valving can counteract the stiffness of the spring? Well, what spring rates do you guys run with Koni/GC on a car that sees lots of track or autoX? My buddy's STI is built for time trial/time attack, it has Stance 3 ways with a 10 front 8 rear and i like the way that feels, however it is still nearly 600 lbs heavier than my DC2.
Progress will do custom rates and their shocks are rated to handle 1000lbs springs. Everyone will tell you to go with Koni/gc, but give Progress a call and ask them. They'll work with you. I was going to get the CSII's, but I had to get my car inspected before they came in from back order. I ended up going with something else because of the time restriction, but they were really cool to deal with. I was going to get a 450/350 setup rather than the standard 350/250. You could probably go stiffer if you wanted.
Thanks, that is great to know. I really just don't like the color combo of the knoi/gc even though people love them. I have a violet integra and it just doesn't go together. Thanks again.

A: you can't see the shocks when the car is on the ground
B: they make paint
C: if color is more important than performance look up the pretty tawian-overs
1.It is not more important, which is why I was considering saving up $2000 for a quality kit.
2.Yes you can definitley see the susp when the car sits, I don't know what car you are driving.
3.I define rice as something out of place be it low quality show parts, or tacky color combos causing me to distaste the setup.
You have your personal reasons for what you purchase, and I have mine, that is what makes us different. Why can't I want a quality coilover that doesn't look stupid(IMHO) and doesn't bust the bank? I posted to get ideas, if all else fails, whose to say I won't get the GC/Koni setup?

Never heard of BWR, I'll reaserch that. I was also checking out Yonaka. I hear that D2 and Ksport are similar, but not that great in quality. Aany say on those 2?
