Extended warantee -- is it worth it?
I know this isn't clear cut, thats why I'm having trouble making the decision.
Basically its a $1070 bet that something big will go wrong between 50,000 and 100,000 miles right?
So what probable things could go wrong to make the warantee pay for itself?
-If I spin a bearing, a new shortblock is around $1500 right? Not too much of a payoff there.
- How much do new valves cost is I misshift? Maybe $700 or so?
Any advise? Words of wisdom? Logic?
I'm planning on taking it to 2-3 HPDE each year. Other than that, just a lot of regular hard driving.

It also depends on how much trouble it will be to get them to cover it!
Suppose you over rev, or forget to add oil during a track day ...
On the other hand, a friend of mine got a good deal out of the extended warranty on his RX-7 tt.

YES it is worth the $$$....I've claimed against my 'extended warranty' twice -
* I had my whole 'clutch' replaced last October, when my ITR was @ ~87,000 kms (~54,061 mls). It failed due to a particular component (can't remember which) and NOT abuse, even though Honda said it was well worn (to be expected after sooo many kms!).
* I had my 3rd Gear 'synchro' replaced earlier this year, again due to component failure and NOT abuse.
The 'EW' cost me AU$440 to get either an extra 40 K (kms) or 2 years and I've already saved AU$1,600 on the 'clutch' (includes labour) plus AU$700 on 'synchro' (includes labour).
Unfortunately I've ONLY 16,000 kms left in order for my 'engine' to FAIL and for Mr.Honda to pay for another one!! he he he
