are obd1 cat the same as obd2 cat??? i need it for smog

i can get a obd2 cat cheap, need it for my obd1 94 integra so it can get smogged. would it work?

OBD2 cat simply has the 2nd O2 bung on it. Plug that, and it should be the same as an OBD1 cat (functionally at least). The law might not care about functionality though, and might mandate the "correct" cat. Check with a smog shop first, and see what they say.

ok, so i can use a obd2 cat... just need to plug it up right... what sound bolt would i need to do so. and will the cat pass smog? or would a CEL go on if i use the obd2 cat on a obd1 94 integra???

I already explained that it might not pass smog if the law requires you to have the "correct" cat in place. Call a smog shop and ask if you can legally use an OBD2 cat on an OBD1 car.

OBD1 doesn't throw a CEL for the cat. Only OBD2, with the 2nd O2 sensor, can. Without that 2nd sensor, the ECU has no way of knowing how the cat is functioning, or if it is even there.
