have used several gasket, and gasket kits for d and b series. Never had a problem... and to quench any bad mounthing, i said "several" because i have had to open my head for various reason, and more often than not, i was not able to re-use the gasket as it had expanded... lol

Why risk having to do it again? OEM all the way.

Jeeze, for real?! I had no idea OEM head gaskets were that much!

I was coming in to say always buy OEM, but damn man. With a $70 price difference, I'd buy autozone too.

I use Felpro parts, they sell them at Advance. I got an entire engine gasket set from advance for a d16y8 for $112. It has exhaust/intake manifold gaskets, head gasket, water connection rings, valve cover stud grommets, and a lot of other o-rings and such. I've used Felpro on my other cars, and they are pretty decent gaskets.

Sounds like the problem is with you and not the head gaskets. My guess is your head is lifting cause it's not being torqued properly. However it could be caused by a multitude of things.

If the head is properly seated and torqued down then there is nothing wrong with using a cheap head gasket.
