Hard to say without the VIN unless the prior owner sees this and somehow recognizes the shell.
IL salvage title..

mike how about a 97 R from PA? my buddy is trying to sell his $9700

http://www.itrca.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=11093

i hate to see him get rid of it, this car has been like the staple of the import world around here for years through it's different stages. may as well go to another true ITR enthusiast, if not he's parting it out and i got dibs on the seats and drivetrain already haha

It's funny you posted this. I was checking that out yesterday. I would love to pick up an R right now, but I need just a little more time financially. So close to paying a few things off. It it was next spring/summer, I'd be all over her. I've even entertained selling the SRT for an R and to start a k20 build, but I could never get what I'd like for it. Not one scratch and only 1,600 original miles. I better start enjoying it AND get an R after all the work I've put into it .

Smart. I did the same. Trust me, you don't want to pick up an R just to sell it because you can't afford it.

To be honest the only time I would even think about a k20 build would be on a JDM ITR shell. Anything USDM or complete I would never go the k20 route. When it comes to a USDM it ought to be illegal to do a K swap. If it were up to me I would get a spotless super low mileage clean titled USDM ITR and keep it bone stock. I fear my standards are way too high in terms of how flawless/insane low mileage/unmodified I would like it (unfortunately I am a VERY PARTICULAR person). I feel like I will be that guy selling the farm for the PERFECT R (Museum Quality!). LOL I guess the way I see it is I might start with a modified/higher mileage/shell/track only JDM and pick up another later when I find "THE ONE"

They are around. You'll just have to be patient. I got extremely lucky finding one only a few hour drive from home. You're very smart by not getting in to debt just to have one though. These days you have to be especially careful about debt.

No doubt. I am actually just finishing off the debt I had from my previous marriage (about a month and a half of payments left). It wasn't a whole lot, but it really didn't give me a lot of breathing room in terms of extra spending cash. I should also have the SRT paid off relatively soon (within a year hopefully). After the bills I have get taken care of in the next year I will have nearly $1,000 a month extra to play with. My only other financial concern before snagging an R is picking up a new winter daily driver. I am all excited to get everything ready to get an R, but I bet I'll be looking forever once I am ready. It seems like no one ever lets go of the ABSOLUTE PRISTINE Rs. I don't blame 'em This is why I might think about a shell. My dad is just finishing up his new shop/storage building next month. He only lives about 25 minutes away and will have the room for one. I guess I will just wait and see when the time actually comes.

Winter shitboxes are fun and cheap projects. I just got a 93 civic ex with a seized crank for $700. Then I rebuilt the z6 motor and replaced some ball joints and had a perfect running reliable car for under $2000.

Can't wait to see what you end up with!
