Default Car Had No Oil - 98 GSR

I went to turn on my car on sunday night, but when I did the motor stuttered when it first turned on so I quickly turned it back off. I went to check my oil dipstick and I barely had any oil on the very end of the dipstick. I had checked my oil the day before and it was at the normal level. Im not sure what could have caused this, but if anyone might have any input; please help me out. Thanks.

If any help, Im using Mobil 1 5w-30

topped off and see how low it is man.. either leak or oil consumption. any smoke from the exhaust when you rev it up?

thats the wierd thing, whenever I rev it up, there's no smoke and I can't see any visible leaks.

mobil 1 is really thin and will leak and burn faster than most other oils. try using conventional oil such as castrol gtx. there's even a "high mileage" version of the gtx that's supposed to be a little thicker to prevent leaking and burning, i used it on my gsr with good results .

hmm ok thanks. Didnt think it would be a problem with that due to it only having 80k miles but thanks for the advice. the only reason i continued using mobil1 was because that was what the previous owner was using.

that was my first thought, but do you think they would waste their time and actually catch the oil so that I wouldn't notice? Idk :shrugs:

mobil is fine, oil has a specific film at X temp. 5-30 mobil 1 isn't going to burn faster than 5-30 dino oil. what syn does do is resist heat break down to a greater degree and flow easier cold

If you check the oil when the car is cold and when the car is hot it will be in different areas... So the question is when you first checked it was it cold and when you checked it again if was warm?
