Accord 98 V6----loud noise coming from upper left corner
I got 170 clicks on my car, the oil burns once in a blue moon, last time i burnt oil was months ago. I was driving my car, while being heavy on the pedal (raced a bit at that point reved to about 5000 rpm), turned it off and a couple of min later while starting it up i hear this "tack tack tack" noise, going of about 3-4 "tacks" per sec rather loud coming from the upper left of the engine or so. No lights came on, so i figured it might be the engine, no oil. I would typically hear a similar sound but much more faint when there is no oil in the engine. I checked an was correct to find no oil, keeping in mind a did an oil change just a week before. In addition i have no oil leaks and no blue smoke from exhaust. I filled but the noise is still there. 1 mechanic speculated the timing belt but not sure. A honda mechanic claims some pins that connect to the pistons are damaged at least 2 of them. A 3rd mechanic checked the engine for any crust in the engine (around the opening to fill with oil), held the breaks n reved high, and determined that my engine is perfectly fine but is not sure where the noise is coming from. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated, dont know if i should repair or change engine or what it is~!!! P.S. The engine does not seem to sound different when driving, appart from the "tacking" noise, and it appears i have all the horsepower.
The entire band. Even when the car is idle, although it seems that at higher bands of about two n a half (60 km) while driving it becomes fainter the noise or when u troddle
