Default Steptronic? for accord?

At http://www.levelten.com they have steptronic for accords.. my car's an automatic..

Reasons why i would want it:

Ability to downshift and upshift

Less hassles then a stick in traffic

Cost lest to change than to change to manual

what do ya'll think about it?

sounds nice and gay, but if you absolutely cant deal with a manual, then I guess its better than a regular slushbox.

leventen has an extremely poor reputation. I would avoid them at all costs. I've heard it on this board as well as others.

I haven't heard any bad things about the full replacement tranny. Other stuff yeah but I'd go for the whole tranny if i was gonna keep it.

It is not worth it. There is a lot of stuff to go wrong if you do.

It would fit, but they are weak trannies just like the rest of Honda automatics.

unless you have money bags aorund full of cash. I wouldn't **** with it. You're just asking for something to go wrong.

General Sawp/Performance Modification Advice....

If you are poor like me... let someone (or some shop) **** with it. When the rich people have the bugs worked out. Then jump on the bandwagon.

i have looked into the levelten stuff too, it is expensive:

PTS bulletproofing-$302
PTS torque converter-$500
PTS computer-$1098
plus whatever labor charges would be.

i have to disagree though, ive only heard good things so far about levelten.

I hear good things about them too but never from a person who has actually used them. Everyone is impressed by the fact that you 'bulletproof' an auto tranny but agin I do not know anyone that has ever purchased anything from them... that's neither nor bad.

Agreed
There will always be a trade-off between auto and stick. If shifting in traffic is considered a hassle then you have your answer. I don't mind shifting and when you are out on the open road there is nothing like shifting when you want to shift.Plus, let's not mention the parasitic loss of an auto.
My lx beater is auto and my DX beater is stick. The DX just gets up and goes but when I floor the auto it's well....snoozzzzzzzeeee.

I have driven a Probe before and after levelten messaging. The difference is remarkable.
