Default crank pulley noise,please help....

Okay i'm having a annoying noise coming from my crank pulley its almost like a light jingling sound.. If i rev the engine up it does'nt get louder but i can still hear it if i stand under the hood.. The noise is defintely coming from the crank pulley area.

The only belt on it is the alternator belt it has no ac,ps..The alternator belt seems really tight but i don't think it being to tight would cause this..And i'm not getting any squeeling from my alt belt..

I did notice on my crank pulley on the very outer edge on the end is alittle piece chipped off probably from a rock but i don't think it would cause this jingling sound..

This is a freshly built sleeved turbo motor done by a very reputable shop with under 400 miles on the setup it has me alittle parnoid..

Car runs great with 0 issues but that damn jingling sound..

any ideas?

tighten your crank pulley bolt before it falls off, it sounds like either the washer directly behind the bolt or possibly the belt guide that is behind the pulley. if it is tight then pull the covers off and make sure your not getting ready to lose a tensioner pulley. i.e. it could be the bearing shield on the pulley

Can i check the crank pulley bolt from under the car with a regular ratchet or do i need air?

And what am i looking for when i pull the covers off?

you can check the crank pulley bolt without air, it'll be noticeable if it's loose. if it is, i'd recommend to tighten with air.

when you pull the covers off, the timing belt tensioner has a 10 or 12mm bolt that might need to be tightened up, gl

A belt that is too tight will make noise, make sure belt tension is correct. 94

I tried belt lubricant tonight but it did nothing.

Could'nt i just take the belt completely off for a couple seconds and start it just to see if it kills the noise?

I tried to tighten the crank pulley but all i did was spin the pulley over like i was trying to start the car..

I also noticed i had some noise coming from my throwout bearing the made it sound worse. When i push the clutch in, it does'nt sound has bad but still noticable..

It is hard to explain the sound its not really a sound like something is loose, the crank pulley just seems to be running more noisy then normal like the pulley itself would need to be greased. I may just be worrying to much because its a fresh build but its defintely more noisy then a normal engine..

yes you can just take the belt off, I would replace the belt while you got it off and clean all of that junk you just sprayed on your pulleys off,

What was your thrust clearance on the crank when you assembled the engine?

take a video of the noise, because a jinggling noise is not normal

I did'nt build the engine it was done by inline last year, the car was tuned on 93 octane made 420hp on 16psi..I bought the car from my friend who had issue's with his license the last year, so it sat in his garage till recently when i scoop'd it up it has under 400 miles on the setup..Its not really a jingling sound like loose change or anything it just sounds like the pulley is running kinda noisy like it would need greasing or something.. Its really not loud its just annoying becaus i know its thier. I can hear it at idle when my hood is shut but i can't hear it during normal driving.. i wish i knew how to post a sound clip.. I really wanna take it to inline so they can hear it to give me suggestins but its a 45min ride and i'm sketched out not wanting to tear anything up.

take it to a local trusted mechanic then, at least they can tell you if it is a normal noise or something to be worried about. or take the belt off and see if the noise disappears, it may just be the bearings inside the alternator

I'm gonna take the belt off tommorow and replace it..

It is defintely coming from the crank pulley area and not the alternator..

Does the alternator pulley look like its perfectly alinged to the crank pulley?

Ive seen this on an H22 where the alternator bracket was tweaked and it caused the belt to be tweaked as well which caused a noise.
