Default Totaled my RSX a few days ago RIP dc5, but serious question here

Alright as stated I lost my rsx sadly in a accident that was my fault because I rear ended a women on the freeway. My question is, does anyone know about a airbag malfunction for the rsx? Because my passanger air bag went off (no one was sitting there) and my air bag didnt, and I hit the women with my side of the car trying to move out of the way.. anyone have any clue if there has been reports of the airbag malfunctioning?

there is a bullentin for the OPDS unit for the passenger side.. it only shut the system off when theres is somebody leaning towards the window/pillar to avoid the airbag from deploying..sometime when you put a leather coat over the seat. but your complaint is totally opposite?

Did you have your seat belt on ?

If you did the computer recognized the severity of the accident was not too bad. The computer fired yopur belt pre-tensioner but did not see the need to shoot your bag.

As it did not see the passenger belt fastened it shot that bag to be safe.

There must have been enough deceleration for the computer to recognize the impact.

the rsx has the opds, correct? if so, then the passenger dash airbag shouldn't have deployed without a person in the seat (unless there was something heavy on the seat). i bought my civic from a salvage auction and the passenger airbag wasn't deployed, but the driver one was.

how about some pics of the carnage?

it just depends on where the hit was; for example, if you hit the car above the frame rails then the airbags might not go off at all, even with a pretty bad hit. also, if you were sitting too close to the steering wheel the srs computer might've decided that you're better off without the airbag than with.

Are you hurt at all? Back injury? If so i'd get a lawyer on it and have Honda/Acura answer your question instead.

he also needs to make sure he was the original owner because the airbag could have been removed one way or another prior to him owning the car.

Not to bring up an old thread, but I've been wondering about the air bags for a long time. I've had 2 front end accidents that caused alot of damage and the bags never came out.

Contact Acura and ask them tey will have the recall list and info on that kind of thing for your car. Also your airbag might have been disconnected in your steering colum or under dash. The wire is coverd in yellow loom. It depends on what whoever did to the car B4 you got it.

I don't have the pictures anymore. First wreck smashed the a/c system and the intake manifold, totalled about $7k. The second one was head on at about 40mph but only did $4-5k. I bought the car new, I've had it since 50 miles.

learn to drive? sounds like the damage wasn't anywhere near the frame rails in the 1st accident. 2nd accident might've just not been strong enough.

I think that it probably didn't go off for a reason. My friend totaled her EP3 and the airbag didn't even go off. She was fine though. It wasn't a ton of damage. Just enough to total it out.

I was able to get her Tanabe front strut bar, and Civic Si floor mats before the insurance took it away. I wish I could have nabbed the steering wheel too.

Best advice: pay attention while driving on the freeway. I will assume you were looking to change lanes and BAM, hit a stopped car.
