Car shakes when increasing speed after 55mph
So my car recently started shaking when I increase speed after 55mph. When just cruising at
any speed or going under 55mph the car drives fine. I have changed my two front bottom
motor mounts and have gotten all my wheels balanced.
Has anyone experienced the same thing and if so what did you do to fix it?
One of my mechanics said i have alittle too much play in one of my axles.
TIA

its coming from the front, not sure if its the passenger or driver side. The mechanic said my driver side axle has alittle too much play. I got my wheels balanced and new motor mounts in yesterday. Got my passenger side wheel bearings in about a month ago.

Are you feeling the vibration in your steering wheel? Mine did the same thing and turned out to be my axle. I changed the axle and now it has a defective axle and clicking when I turn....lol. But hey, the vibration is gone...lol
Yeah the steering wheel does vibrate and i do hear a click sometimes
alignments will not cause a shake
wheel balance issues with cause a vibration related to speed, faster you go the more it shakes under all conditions
this is more like a axle issue, if the inner joint, (either side) starts to bind up, the will shake the car really bad under accel only, cruise is ok.
03-04 4cyl accords have a really bad problem with that
they wont make noise, but makes the front of the car feel like it is being shaken side to side

Grab a new set of tires! It's your tires that is causing it. Check to see if you have even tread ware. I have bald/bad tires and one wheel is bent and it is shaking my cabin like an ice cream malt! I can see my door panels rattle as well as vibrations on my seats. So definitely check your tires/rims for bent or uneven tread ware. After that, might as well replace axle(s) and get a full alignment. I'm doing that soon because I can't stand driving under 55 mph, and it's a DD.
