Default New Battery

Here's the deal. I have an Odyssey PC680 that I've been running for a year. I leave it on a float charger maybe once a week overnight because it would probably be a good idea. I'm using the car more often and need more reliability. The thing died on me one time, not because it's deffective, but because I was stuck in traffic idling for a really long time with the AC on, headlights on, and radio somewhat loud (no aftermarket sub). I had to push start it and the guy behind me got out of his car and helped.

I need suggestions on a new battery. I was going to go Optima but it's expensive and I heard there is a relatively high fail rate. Someone here suggested Kirkland from Costco but I don't have membership. I was going to OEM but it's $98 before discount and $12 core and some other charge the guy told me but I forgot.

FYI I'm putting a low power, extremely lightweight amp and sub in and I only have this weekend to get a battery.

i use to work at a shitty autoparts store, we sold rebadged Excide batteries. they where ok. but the next stop for the battery guy was Walmart down the street. he said they get the bottom of the barrel batteries lol.

i work at Honda now. batteries seem ok. dont warranty nearly as many as the last place i worked. Honda ones have a 100month warranty, 36 is replacement, the rest is a prorate. good deals.

If your car is dying while it's running, that means your alternator is on it's way out, and it's making the car run off the battery.

I'm using an Optima yellow top and have not had any problems what so ever. I've never heard of them having a high fail rate, though. To put you at ease; I got my Optima used and it was sitting at 3.7volts. About 6 hours on a trickle charger and it was sitting at a healthy 12.8volts and hasn't let me down. They're tough batteries for sure...

That was my first thought. Check the running and non-running voltage.

FWIW many of the batteries listed above are the exact same battery. All made by JCI (Johnson Controls) but sold with a different warranty. Personally verified that Costco Kirkland, Interstate (some Interstate batteries aren't actually made by Interstate), Walmart Energizer, Canadian Tire are indeed JCI batteries. **This is for the Integra size battery only**. Just buy the cheapest one.

Like someone mentioned, why not not ask a costco member to help you out? I'm sure there are plenty of HT members that'd be willing to help.
