Throttle to Tranny Cable Adjustment
I have read a few threads regarding the adjustment of the throttle to transmission cable. The transmission in my 97 Accord SE was replaced after my wife tried to scale a concrete island. She cracked the housing in half. The cable going from the throttle body to the tranny wasn't adjusted right, leaving too much slop in the cable. Under normal foot pressure, when you slow down to go around a turn, then accelerate out of the turn, the engine revs to about 4500 rpm before the tranny catches up. If you're light on your foot you can avoid the revving. There's no slippage as I'm sure many will say is the problem. I can see the slop in the cable. There's (2) 12mm nuts at the tranny linkage, but I'm too chicken to try adjusting them. I'm not sure which one needs to turn to take up the slack. I'm sure it's an easy fix if I knew what I was doing. The dealer acts as if they don't have a clue of what the problem is, but it would probably take a couple of hours to diagnose and adjust.....at $89 per hour. Has anyone done this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
