Anybody have some tips on how to remove the driver door wiring harness on a gen3 3-dr? I've got it all out except for the main connector that goes through the hinge area on the door. The connector seems to be missing the little plastic piece on the lever that you push to get it to disconnect, and the angle is so bad that I can't figure out how to get a grip on it and get it out. I was wondering if any of you had any tricks I could use. Right now the door is on the car, and most of the protective plastic stripping has been removed, so I have access via the speaker hole and the hole for the door control module.
FYI, the reason I'm removing the harness is to replace it and hopefully get my power windows and door working again (I've got a short somewhere).

Oh, by the way, I got the harness out finally. It turns out that the 'inside the door' side of the connector actually hooks into the door. You have to pry the boot off of the connector outside the door, disconnect it as usual, then pry up the a tab that keeps the connector snug against the door. Then you can push it into the door from the outside. I replaced the harness with no luck. So I still have a question for the gurus:
Since the electrical fault makes the power doors, windows, and mirrors not work for both doors in the car, and replacing the driver door harness didn't help, I assume that the fault is in the ground wire between the driver door harness and the ground in the driver footwell. The cruise control uses the same ground and still works, so it must be between the door and the splice for the cruise control wire. Does that sound right? My electrical skills are pretty weak.
