ELD PROBLEMS....need help..?
91 hatch bwith a b16 swap, keep throwing cel code 20- eld (electrical load detector) and this is what ive done as far as troubleshooting and im lost,
pulled 3 pin eld harness from fuse box in engine bay, check for voltage between black and yellow and ground, which goes to main fuse box under dash, good i think between 4-5 volts, and green and red and ground, which goes to ecm, or pcm, NO volts, checked the wire and nothing wrong with it and the pin connections good, so i replaced entire fuse box and nothing,
im lost here and dont know what to do or try and i dont want to take it to a dealer b/c they look at my car and motor and their head starts spinning with all the stuff i have on it and just the swap in general, plus i dont want to pay an arm and a leg for nothing, last time they put a switch on my ecu to just turn off my cel. a holes,

no problems starting, runs perfectly fine, idles perfectly fine, checked all wires, fuse 14 under dash, replaced fuse box under hood twice, checked all grounds, cant find anything thats what i dont understand, but cel is on all the time.
Did you convert your car from DPFI to MPFI?
I did a bad mpfi swap and threw a code 20. I mispinned one pin over and that was the cause. It took me a good 40+ hours to figure that one out.

must be like civiccrx said. check wirings. also could be alternator. Mine threw no codes but ELD was fault. My lights kept flickering and radio kept turning off and on once in a while (alternator and battery good). replace my alternator and still same thing. One night my light and indash lights kept flickering really bad and it died on me. Took it to a mechanic and he took 3 weeks to fix my car. It was my Eld and 2 burnt wires( i think he said underneath my dash- steering colum). after that my car was running and running great right now.
i dunno what it is, but read the post ppl, my car runs fine, idles fine, lights dont flicker cd/radio works great not problems with anything on the car as far as electrical or mechanically, checked all wires over and over and over a went through the pin outs several times checked everything and i mean every little thing, checked fuses, changed fuse box under hood twice, nothing, also its not my alternator i ran a few test on it and its good recharging my system fine, thats why im stumped here i cant figure it out, i ready to say heck with it

I would, bring it to someone who has the patience to check the wires at the ecu. I takes many painful hours to disect the problem. I am not exaggerating when I say 40+ hours to figure it out.
ill keep plugging away at it i guess i probably have about 30 hrs. of looking and tearing apart and more looking and checkeing pin out on ecu and god knows what else so hopefully 10 more hrs. and ill have it solved, but ill keeping messing with it here and there, and ill post if i make any breakthroughs
i dunno if its my alternator because i ran a few tests on it and its fine, its recharging my system perfectly fine, i dunno maybe its worth a shot, if i can find one cheap enough because to be honest i dont think thats the problem, im thinking a wire somewhere that i havent found yet ot somthing i just skimmed over after getting tired of looking and looking......but thanks for the input like i said ill try it if i can find one cheap enough or see if any friends have one laying around
im in the same boat as you, im now throwing CEL 20. Ive noticed a month ago that my headlights would not come on when i turned them on and i had to hit the under-hood fuse box for them to come on.
