Follow up on: 99 TL engine dies
Ok, so I was the good little nuebie and changed out the ignition switch like all of you suggested, Thanks! the car now starts and will stay running, at least. But the dam'nd thing still would not stop the Engine Idle hunting thing (see previous posts). So after "resetting the ECU" a couple of times to no avail I decided to get drastic. I pulled and reseated the connectors associated with the throttle body and where ever visible in the engine compartment. No different... in park or neutral 1,000-2,000 RPM searching. What the hell, I did say DRASTIC RIGHT? Next while it was running I decided to pull the plug off the top of the throttle body to see what happens, AND guess what ? Engine idled fine..... really, even when I plugged it back in it hunted slightly the first time I re-plugged it in maybe about 50 rpm or so but pulling it out and reseating it again settled down the idle completely. Time for a test ride!!!!!!
Thanks I have the car dropped of at acura right now. if They can't fix it for less than 200.00 I will change out the IACV myself. Too bad i didn't wait a little longer for your reply!!!!
Got it back from the Acura dealer today. They wanted $453.00 to put the new IACV in. told the Thanks but.... yea you get the picture. I have had a lot of luck all my life rebilding carburetors so I guess I will have to figure this one out too. Was looking for a decent DIY from anyone of you guys. Good thing I have a couple of back up rides in the mean time. ok gonna get back to searching.
its easy. sensors on the bottom of the tb. all it might need is just a cleaning. take out the sensor and spray so carburetor cleaner in their or so it with a piece of wire. with the tb off obviously
