The coil is triggered to spark by the distributor. Its a bad distributor. Advance Auto sells new ones with a lifetime warranty. That's what i did.

It is also possible a coil problem. Use a multi-meter to test the coil. For a 94 accord. the primary winding resistance is 0.6 - 0.8 ohm, the secondary winding resistance is 14-22 kohm.

I tested the coil & 3of the 4 pins had 17.84 I think it was & the 4th had nothing. now I thought that was odd that there was nothing but relized that the terminal didn't go anywhere anyway. but maybe it needs 2have something 2 complete the circuit I guess. what do u think?

The secondary winding terminal is obvious because it connects to the distributor. Testing any pin against the secondary winding terminal, you should have either the secondary winding resistance or infinite. Can not be short. Test 3 pins on the coil, two pins may connect together and other two should have the primary winding resistance.

well I did I think & all the pins have the same reading but the one. I took the neg on my ohm meter put that in there the coil wire goes &took the pos & touched each terminal & that's what I got. did I do it righht

What you got is the secondary winding resistance and it should be in K OHM range. You also need to test the resistances between the 3 pins. Two of those should be the primary winding resistance and it should in the OHM range. The 3rd and/or 4th one should be no connections or only connetted to one of the primary and can ont be both.

Here is the test procedure for 94 accord. You should be able to test your coil by following this procedure.

You may need a 20'' BIG SCREEN phone.

Here is the diagram for the coil if you have F22B2 engine. The bottom terminal is connector for Ignition coil wire. The A, B, and C are connected to the 4-p connector. The resistance between A and B should be 0.6 - 0.8 OHM. The resistance between A and the bottom terminal should be 14 - 22 K OHM. For F22B2 engine, there should be continuty between A and C. Hope this time will help.

If it is 94-97 accord lx, you should have f22b2 engine. Follow post 13 and this pic to test

ok so I just checked the 4pins on the coil & they come up either 0.0 ohms,o.fl, or 0.5ohms & that was on only one pin. so u think the coil is shot then?

The primary winding terminal resistance should be 0.6-0.8. I will assume the 0.5 is right with error. When assuming the coil is not shot, you will need to check cap and rotor as well as test the Ignition Control Module (ICM) which is in side the distributor. You will need to remove the cap and rotor for testing the ICM. It is a good time to change both.

the icm has 4 wires going 2it right? if so I have already replaced that so should I go buy a cap & rotor & if that doesn't work get a coil. we r running out of options here lol
