What are your auditory requirements?
Do you enjoy listening to music or are you more into ricer Fart Can Mufflers?

Oh, and forget this "without breaking the bank" stuff. Everything involved when deviating from OEM gets expensive.

ebay n1.... won't break the bank

OP you might want to give more details as to what you're looking for. you might want to include your price range, sound desires, performance goals, etc the more specific you are the better

I just ordered me an Apexi WS2 muffler and I'm getting an 2.75" to 3" custom piping done next weekend. I'll probably go with 3" since it'll benefit my H.

I'd like to get in on this.

I also have a 94, but my main concern is to find a muffler that has longevity and it as QUIET as possible! Of course, the less expensive the better.

thanks.

lol, at least you're honest. I would recommend the Apexi WS2 in all honesty, its not that its quiet but its just not horrendously loud and ricey making your car sound fast while still looking slow.

Just got it put on last Friday. Sounds nice and smooth! Apexi muffler with 2.5" custom exhaust piping.

A universal is just the exhaust canister.. A catback goes from your catalytic converter all the way to the canister.. So the "cat back" is where its at..

The only modification to my '90 lx when I got it was a replaced cat back exhuast pipe and a universal magniflow muffler. the exhaust pipe is I believe a little bigger than stock, and the muffler is fairly large with a 3" opening, I really liked the sound quality, very smooth and deep, even during acceleration it got louder but not annoying. Although I recently got rid of my cat converter and installed a header and it doesnt sound that great any more

As for universal vs. cat-back. Get a universal and bring it into a quality muffler shop. Get them to make custom piping for you. Takes about 3 hours, is just as good as a cat-back, but at 1/3 of the price.

Akkk! Twenty Lashes with a wet noodle for Brad mentioning EBay.

I tried going the discount cat-back route and first settled on a Magnaflow (Mario Andretti Special) system. It looked good so I went ahead and installed it.
Within one week, I had collected two (2) "Notice of Demand' tickets to have the car reinspected. (Noise Ordinance)

I ripped it out, using the intermediate pipe as a stand for my backyard bird feeder (as a reminder to spend wiser (grasshopper))

The car is now equipped with an Apexi WS2 Stainless cat-back.
No more tickets, no more complaints.
I can enjoy my audio, and my wife will once again ride in the car with me.

My point? Cheap now may NOT be cheap a week later. There are a lot of hidden expenses from not doing it right the first time.

I say junk but.... it is better flowing and and even though it may be chrome plated garbage it still looks an performs 10X better than some crush bent shinanigans..

Sounds like you've been ripped off in the past then. "GTFO"? How old are you, 14?
