B16 cams, GS-R head, HELP!
yeah i got a head from a shop that told me obd1 b16 cams are the same spec as later model B18C1 cams, is this true? i don't think they are. any help would be great, i ask because the head the cams came in is a B18C1 head, thanks
I am a Honda Master Technician with over a dozen years experience working exclusively on Hondas with extensive experience in performance modifications also. I swapped my first Honda in 1995. I have changed at least 20 sets of B16 cams for GSR cams esp. on turboed cars and have seen substantial gains on a dyno. THe GSR cams have a better design for turbocharged cars than B16 cams. Although their lift and duration are the same their intake/ exhaust opening "times" are different as well as their amounts of overlap. Camshaft design is as or more important than duration/lift specs. Although slightly simple in design thoroughly understanding the complexities of camshaft design and its effect on internal engine dynamics takes years of study. Either way good luck.
^^ okay so your saying i should try and get some obd2 gs-r cams? thats what i was thinking the whole time, i had a feeling the shop was rippin me off. thanks a ton, you prolly saved my engine from running like ***.
