Default Melted head gasket?

I have a jdm B18C r which I just purchased.

I did the swap and found it was leaking oil from the HG under the vtec solenoid.

I sent the car to a friend's friend who is a mechanic at Honda to replace the head gasket. He got back to me today telling me that the head gasket on is melted to the block on the left side...

Melted....I've heard of cracking but melting seems like it would require extreme heats!

Has anyone ever heard of this happening and/or what would cause it?

ask to see it.
unless the headlifted and allowed the hg to slide in the chamber and you were really on it and the head gasket was in the chamber burning up
that can happen if youdont have dowel pins in your head and block

i highly doubt it was melted....probably the black coating on the metal gasket pealed off and is sticking to the block and head. it does happen sometimes and is just a pain in the *** to clean off..

Just what I was told, I haven't seen the block yet. I'll check it out.
