Help:Fixed bent 5x114.3 ITR rim but still wobbly
I bought a set of ITR GM wheels and one had a bent lip. So I took it to a shop and when I got it back, I took it to have it balanced. Found out the it is wobbly as heck! I paid to have it fixed! This was w/o the tire on it. Did they even balance it or repair it the right way? Should I take it back to them or just throw it away? I'm trying to save some money here. Anyone with experience or ideas, please care to chime in. Thanks.
The rim could be damage from the center... Meaning if the center is not sitting perpendicular to the circumference of the rim... If thats the situation, I dont think that can be restored to its original state... Those JDM dc2 16" rims are very delicate in comparison to the USDM dc2/CTR 15" rims... A friend of mine had to scrap one of his wheel and get another one... He had the same wobbly effect.... Luckily for us, where we live JDM ITRs are as popular as rice in a bag, so parts are easily accessible... Post pictures of that rim... It may repairable if its a different situation for you.... If its isn't severe, then you can try a bigger profile to reduce the vibration... But thats only a quick fix...
I have the 15's itr/ctr's. The wheel was definitely bent on the lip but not anywhere else on the rim. I could take pictures of the rim but you can't tell from the eye sight that it is off in the center. It would be easier to replace but people are hi-jacking the prices, One guy wanted $170 for two without center caps but the rims doesn't have curbs. I don't know what to do and I need tires soon for winter. HELP~
Any reputable professional wheel repair shop will make it right if there is still any problem. Then again, any reputable professional wheel repair shop will probably do it right the first time; I'm guessing that you didn't take it to a place that specializes in wheel repair? If you took it to some other kind of shop, you may be out of luck unless you want to spend all over again to take it to the right kind of shop and have it done right (but that's what happens when you try to take the cheap route).
