BOV stuck open. Can i just close it off permenantly?
Ive been running my car with about 5-7psi max with no bov. The bov was not closing fully so my friend with the advice of another friend said that the bov can be made shut with the adjusting nut without damaging the engine. Is this ok for me to be doing this?
Its welded on the pipe so its not easy for me to swap out.

you can, but remember that all that charge air is going to go back into your turbo causing compressure surge. i would just leave it open and run no boost until you can get a new one. it'll be cheaper than replacing your turbo.
so the damage will be to the turbo then?
i have another i just need someone to weld it. anyway i can fix the BOV? thanks for the response man.

Oh yeah. Disconnect a charge pipe until another BOV can be fitted. that's one of the easiest ways to kill a turbocharger. Depending upon the company of the BOV it MAY be able to be repaired. Otherwise, it may be best to replace it, even if the replacement unit is used.
i definitely would recommend against running with the BOV closed off or not there. That would be one of the fastest ways to destroy your turbo.
call the manufacture of the BOV and see what they say

when your on the gas and in boost. and then off, the butterfly in the TB shuts and in forces all that boost backwards out the bov. if theres no bov. all that boost will violently spin the turbo the other direction.

sorry guys
btw i think the turbo was already pretty shot before i got it.

they sell piping for a bov for $30 on ebay. you get the piping and the bov flange in the middle already. no need to weld anything.
take it off and push on the valve under it. its like a wastegate kinda

i took the bov off and messed with it. i dont see anything wrong with it so im loosening the tension on the spring and ill put it back on. better loose and letting air out then tight and getting the back pressure, right?
yeah for sure. is it a 2bolt . usualy BOVs are all about the same bolt size.
measure yours or something. when your done tape a duck call to your bov

one is a blitz dual drive and the other is turbo xs rfl
Then get a whistle, kazoo, etc. Anything that will make enough noise if there's airflow, but NOT small enough to get sucked back in (just to be safe).
Most mfg's suggest adjusting the BOV at idle. Adjust the screw/etc so it is just closed, then a tiny bit more just for good measure. If the internal diaphragm is not ripped/punctured, it will stay closed for boost, and only open when you let off. Unless you have a giant turbo, like a T78 on a B16, it will always be blowing air OUT, never sucking in.
