i'm thinking about chipping my ecu for a turbo setup eventually. was wondering if i could? it's a PR-4 AO2 ecu that i'm using in my b20 ls. i wanna kno if i could chip it and would i b able to reprogram it to work for the turbo? also.. wat kinda chip should i get? i'm not too big on the whole obd0-obd1 conversion. too $$ for now. i only kno a little bit wen it comes to ecu so ne help would b awesome! =]
Well in all honesty you CAN chip an obd0 ECU, however it will be pretty difficult to find someone to tune it as most tuners don't tune on BRE or TurboEdit anymore because obd1 offers so many more options than obd0 does. There are maybe a handful of shops that tune on BRE/TurboEdit.
http://www.xenocron.com/te.php?page=chippingkits here you can get the chipping kits I'v always used the ones with SST chips. Also in the Installs section of the website it will show you how to chip it if you are good at soldering and would like to do it yourself.
In my opinion, just save up for the obd1 conversion as it will make life so much easier if you decide to boost the car. There are alot of reknown tuners that will tune a car on crome.

thanks man! evverywhere i look i c obd0 chiips but u never hear nething about them.. which made me wonder. and i got a b20b motor. so i'm definatley gonna go ls turbo eventually. hopefully soon.. BOOST! wen i get the money
The b20b is not an LS motor, very similar, however it's from the CRV. LS is from the Integra. Just clarifying not bashing or anything.
As I said, I would suggest that you convert to obd1 and wait until you can afford the tune to put your turbo setup on.
Lots of people have found out the hard way that not getting the car tuned will take a toll on the motor until it just gives up.

and i think i'm just goin to get an S-AFC and use that to tune it.. i'm not goin over 10lbs of boost neways.
This 1.8 liter non-vtec engine is referred to as the 'LS' motor.
You have a B20B which is the 2.0 liter engine found in the CRV... not a 1.8 liter Integra LS engine.
If you want your motor to last and really put out decent power then tune it correctly.
The VAFC 'tune' is a hack job. If you are going to tune at all then at least get a chipped ECU.
I suggest you convert to OBD1 and just run a chipped OBD1 ECU.
Yeah, it will cost you a couple hundred and probably a couple hundred more to tune it properly.
BUT - it will run AWESOME compared to your hack.
If you can't afford a chipped ECU or the OBD1 conversion then consider an FMU instead of wasting time and money on the VAFC.
FMUs work.

LOL ok so then it's just the trim.
and from wat i understand.. the VAFC is a hack that intercepts the signal goin to the ecu and then adjusts it where necessary according to ur setup. i got a friend runnning a rebuilt b18c1 turbo on 12psi, using a VAFC and he said it works just as good.
i'll look into an FMU, don't kno too much bout them
