Default Removing hair gel stains

So over the years of owning my car, the headrest has progressively become more stained with stupid hair gel. Its now a nice thick layer of muck...

Any tips on how to remove it besides "elbow grease", or recommended products?

I love using simple green but have really only done it in the engine compartment. I wish I can just take the dang thing off and throw it in the laundry!

I may try some woolite...

if it comes off, try buying some meguiars APC. You cant buy it in stores but it works GREAT for getting stains out of interior stuff. Spray it on, scrub it and spray it off with a normal hose using a the highest pressure stream you can get. Than vacumm it so you suck the water out of it and let it air dry. It will be clean, guaranteed

I use Folex for interior stains. Can get it at Home Depot. Can just use a towel with it no hosing down.

I like the no hosing down part since its still in my car and wasn't planning on taking it out...

How strong is Folex? Any idea if it will bleach?

Like anything you will want to try on a inconspicuous spot first, but I haven't had any trouble.
