Need Brakes
Hello everyone. Its comming close to me needing new brakes and I wanted to know what ppl have done. I need new rotors due to them warping and yes i can tell they warped.
I dont track my car and so upgrading inst major but I would like to do something different then stock. I read up on a TSX conversion for the front and keeping rear stock. I also saw the HFP kit. What do you guys suggest for rotors and pads?
Thanks in advance

You can try www.fastbrakes.com, they have several Wilwood packages to choose from. I have an account with them and can sell you any kit they have. While I can't offer any discount off their prices you would be helping me get a slice of the pie, lol.
If you do get a kit from them be sure you get standard rotors because the rotors that come in their kits have machined slots/holes/dimples, not cast like they should be. They can crack this way.
I won't sell a slotted/dimpled/cross drilled rotors from them.

I know man. I know that the HFP is like 450 but i can get a Wilwood big front brake kit cheap as **** from corsport. Its like 600 bucks. I thought they were like 1500ish.
^yea i was looking at the ones that are 673 from corsport. i think it was the black drilled kit from wilwood. these are the ones i was telling you about before made by black label racing

I want the red calipers and I think i would want them to be slotted and not drilled. But corsport dosnt offer that option.
Those blacklabel racing ones look nice. With what ever i choose to do Im going to get a ss lines for the clutch and the brakes. I also will probably get EBC pads. The hawk pads are noisey as hell. My buddy has had a few sets of hawk pads.

I also read on 8th somewhere when doing research that ppl have said the Hawk (i think) HPS pads were noisey as hell but they held up on the track well.
Well I feel as though the car is a pig when it comes to stopping, but maybe its just me. I had an '01 sedan LX before the '09 sedan EX and I felt like I was able to stop much sooner, but maybe its just me. I know I plan on getting hawk pads when the OEM ones are done.
I'll call and ask him today. I know that you are supposed to spray off the rotors and stuff to make sure they are clean with brake cleaner. And ive read that you need to put the paste on pads.

The lubricant that comes with your brake pads helps get rid of pad vibration. Pad vibration can cause extra noise and increased pad wear.
You are probably thinking about the HP+ pads as the noisy ones. HP+ pads are track pads and they make a little bit of noise until they heat up. I have HPS pads on all four corners of my Si and they don't make anymore noise than stock.
My recommendation for brake upgrades would be this....get performance pads (HP+ if you don't mind the noise HPS otherwise) and high temp brake fluid. For rotors, stay away from cross drilled and slotted. Cross drilled rotors tend to crack and slotted rotors will wear your pads faster. Neither slotted or drilled rotors give you better performance over a standard rotor. As far as brake line are concerned....your car is still new enough to were braided steel lines probably will not make a difference. The OEM brake lines have not aged enough to where they will start flexing when you use the brakes. I would wait on brakes line for a little while.
Good luck!
x2!
They have decent stopping power, and they are good for normal driving, but they fall short on track. I took my Si out on track with stock pads (1/2 to 3/4 material left), and I had to drive home metal on metal. One weekend of track driving completely destroyed the OEM pads.

My Si, (granted, it has larger brakes than the current gen EX) has better stopping power than my 03 EX did, even after a year and a half.
Interesting. I was throwing new pads on my 03 EX every two months...no exaggeration. If I let it go more than two months I'd be rolling through intersections when trying to slow down from <20mph

Well...
'01 civic LX weighs 2510 Lbs whereas the '09 civic EX weighs 2820 Lbs
'01 civic LX has a front rotor of 10.3 in. which is the same as the '09 civic EX
So the same rotors stop 300+ more Lbs.
Granted the '09 has ABS and rear disks, but that doesn't really help, especially with the added weight.
We bought the '01 used @ 56K and traded it in @ 66K for the '09. On the test drive I HATED the transmission, but couldn't really test the brakes. Although they felt fine the transmission annoyed me the most. Plus it wasn't just my dad and I, it was with the salesman so I couldn't really test everything the way I would have liked.
I dunno I only really dislike the brakes when I have to make an emergency stop, thats when it feels like crap. During normal slow downs they are just dandy cause I coast to a stop with minimal braking. Maybe I am just bitching, but I think I won't be going to back to OEM pads.
I have the fastbrakes wilwood 12.6" 4 piston superlite package. I like them alot. And they have hawk hps and they are fine with noise, no problems. I paid 850. I wasnt gonna pay like 4 something for HFP stuff and just get rotors and pads. You need at least 10 mm wheel spacers with the stock wheels though. I am running 20mm spacers with Accord HFP 19" with 55mm offset and 245/30/19
Kidnkorner, I think they only sell dimpled and slotted rotors becaue it was the cross drilled ones that were cracking and not the dimples
