crank senor throwing code with b18c1 swap in 2000 civc
Hey guys. I need some help getting my crank senor working. Its throwing a code that says that its not even picking it up. I tested the senor all the way up to the ecu and I'm getting like 2.3 ohms when i test the two pins together. but I also read about doing a test with one on the body ground and then test each pin individualy, and when I do that, I get nothing. Is this correct? I've even switched ECU's and it still throws the code. I need help asap. i'm trying to pass smog and get my swap barred. thanks for the help!
when i did my swap into my 98 civic, i had to re-wire my harness to fit that sensor, did u have to re-wire it? if so did u do it right?
YES! the CKF code! I forget the number! I worte it down at my shop where my car is. They code was just saying it doesn't detect any sensor at all, but I'll look it up and check it. and yes I did wire it correctly. I know the civic harness has three wires, and the gsr motor had only two. I looked up both of these when I did the swap and hooked them up correctly.. I believe one was white/red and the other blue/red. this is so frustrating!>
Well, if one has 3 wires and the other has 2, how did you get it to hook up correctly? I'm thinking that the 3 wire one is different than the 2 wire, hookup wise...
You can always do the CKF bypass, too...

ya, but i looked up which wires went were and what functions they had and I hooked them up correctly. the third one on the harness was the middle one, and I believe it was a ground or something. thanks for the input guys! keep it up please! i need this fixed

OK, so you DID hook up the 3rd wire, right? IF it's a ground, it's there for a reason. Honda does not put wires on sensors for looks....
yeah when i wired mine i believe the black wire is left un-wired. anyway the CKF bypass is worth a shot! or check your connections
the wires coming from the crank sensor on the gsr motor only had 2 wires. the HARNESS had three. and I hook up the wires from the sensor with the coresponding wires from the harness...leaving the middle one unhooked..which is black i believe. any more suggestions?
I checked the ohms all the way up to the ecu, they seemed fine. I even changed ecu's. still throwing the same code. could my sensor be bad somehow?
hmmm what about voltage?
and if ur sensor is bad, u have ALOT of work ahead of u lol. dont u have to yank off the crank pulley and everything?

If you really, really did wire this up correctly then it is possible for the sensor itself to be bad. Check continuity across the sensor, there should be between 1.6 and 3.2Kohm. Also check for shorts to ground on the wires.
