I swapped in a JDM H22a into my 94 Prelude Si (USDM H23)
The USDM H23 came with an external coil, however the JDM dizzy has an internal coil.
What do I have to do to get the JDM dizzy to work? or do I have to wire up the USDM Dizzy?
Any help would be appreciated!

ok bro. i worried about this for weeks till i found out that all you do is connect the yellow wire with the black stripe to the black wire on the wiring connector that was originally used for the h23a1 coil. thats it. i just used three inches of wire and put a male connector on each end and stuck it in the connector that was used for the external coil. thats it. its so simple. and then that will completely convert your harness. with the exception of the vtec wire that you have to add. let me know if you have any other questions. ill take some pics of the wiring on my car and try to get them posted up on here. let me know how it goes.
just stick a fuse in the clip for the external coil, it fits perfectly, 30amp should suffice, it's easy.
but, it's been my experience that JDM distributors are not that good. I really don't care what anyone else says, the Ignition Module inside gets too hot with the internal Coil.
The External coil USDM VTEC distributor works better! Keep the heat off the ICM & Coil.

i agree. try to swap to the usdm sometime. mine has gone out as well. so im looking for a new one right now. but the fuse thing will get you running just need to get rid of that dizzy sometime soon and go usdm.
Agree with mphsprelude ^ ^
I did the exact same swap but my dizzy came fried already from the place i bought it from so i was forced to get a new one. I got the usdm dizzy and external coil and it works just fine. the harness wiring took me a while to get right, but it runs great.

Thanks for the advice guys! I really appreciate it.
I decided to swap to the USDM distributor, but my Tach doesn't work now. Any ideas on that? lol
Got to turn the car over for the first time since it was down, and even with open header it sounded like love! haha
Thanks again guys!

Oh and to H22 Kid, It came with a harness, but it was a RHD harness, so it was no good to me. I just robbed it of what I needed to wire my VTEC up. =]
yeah, that is what your supposed to do. you're on the right track, it is kinda confusing with everything being backwards when doing this the first time.
If your tach isn't working, check the 'blue' wire coming out of the distributor, it's the one on the 'two' wire clip off the dizzy.
Just disconnect it, and make sure and plug it back in good. It's probably just not connected right.
also, good call on the usdm distributor, it's easier to hook up since no wiring modification is necessary, AND i personally have had TWO JDM Distributors go bad on me. Also, know some other people with the same thing.
It has also been proven that the external coil and withstand the higher rpm's more frequently, probably because it doesn't get as hot.
good luck, Mike
out of curiosity have any of you obd2a guys with obd1 jdm h22a's done the external coil conversion? i'm asking because this is the only thing holding me back from doing it on my accord
