Best radar detector for the money

I'm looking for a good radar detector in the 250-300 range or less, what are some brands you guys use? Likes/dislikes of the product? What all do they alert you of?

my buddy has a passport 8500 x50 and I used it over the weekend, I think thats what ill pick up. Thanks everyone!
