Best Street tire for 450-550whp?
Hey Fellas,
I am 29 days away from having the first ever PeakBoost S2000 tuned on the dyno, and i know i am going to be in desperate need for tires! I am looking for something that will grip nice on the streets, but also lasts more than an oil change, I am a quite a "old lady" driver, and rarely even hit VTEC on my stock AP1, so i am sure i can make the tires last somehwhat. i am up between 3 sets of tires, All will be a mounted on the oem AP1 wheels, lowered on skunk2 springs.....
-245/50/16 Nitto 555R Drag Radial
click me
-255/50/16 BFG GForce T/A Drag Radial

-255/50/16 Mickey Thompson 3793R ET Street Radials

I am leaning toward the MT's or the BFG's because they are available in a 255, what would you guys use?
here is a basic run down of my setup:

Borg Warner (Bullseye Power) S362 ETT w/ .70ar turbo
PeakBoost 3" downpipe
ID1000cc Injectors
Walbro Pump (hotwired)
oem FPR
oem fuel lines
Peakboost/PWR 24x8x3.5 intercooler
Peakboost charge pipes
Tial 44 wg
Tial 50 bov
Omni 4 bar map sensor
AEM 1052U
3" exhaust w 5" vibrant race muffler
OEM headgasket 11:1 compression
63k miles

M/T followed by BFG then Nitto's, of the choices you listed IMO. Sure others will chime in as well.
The newer BFG's work well but dont seem to last long. The M/T seem to hook a bit better from what I know and seen, plus hold up a bit better than the BFG. Nitto's last a good while I think and hook ok but dont really impress me otherwise. Some people like them though and obviously they better than a non drag radial tire.

MT's without a doubt. I ran the 205/50/15 BFG's at 400whp and had no traction til 3rd. With the 205/50/15 MT's, I had traction from 2nd gear on.

Mickey T's without question, i run 225/50 15 ET STREETS at 400+ whp and couldn't be happier. I've even got caught in a couple rain storms and had no issues with them.
About how many miles are you guys getting out of the MT's? I wanna try a set of the new et street radial IIs
We wore a set of BFGs out in one weekend. We a few other sets out in well less than 1000 miles.
I like the 555r's, they do not hook like the BFG or MT but they hook pretty damn good. A whole lot better than any street tire I've had. Plus they last! We get about ~5k hard miles out of them in a boosted FWD, and ~10k+ miles out of them in boosted RWDs. Most people call them Shittos around here, but if you talk to most that own them, they love em.

I woulg go with BFG or MT. Everytime I go to check on 205 50 15 for mts they dont seem to have them listed? do you have to ask for them?
OT- after 450+ wheel I would suggest to just use DRS. You wont get ANY traction on the street with just street tires.
