header and intake with turbo? you need to do some more research.

you need to have a good running motor... no oil leaks, good compresion, etc. a good tune up: plugs, wires, maybe timing belt and water pump... after this is done, an upgraded clutch might be a good idea, but not completely neccesary.... maybe get the greddy base kit with or without the intercooler, a high flow cat and a 2.5" cat back exhaust... also install a lower tempature thermostat...

i think that kit puts out like 6 lbs of boost... you can always tune/upgrade from there... but even at 6lbs the diffrence from stock will seem like night and day...

yeah no doubt... plus greddy kit has e-manage or whatever.... no tuning really just plug in and go... no headers required ;-)

"10 pounds" doesnt mean much alone. 10psi on a IHI rhb5 or 10psi on a SC61?

How much power are you looking to make in you sohc dd? The relaibility is going to be in the tune, motor condition, and parts quality. There is a SOHC thrread in here somewhere, you may also want to check out d-series org and turbod16. Do some researching around there.

You need to throw that motor in the dumpster and get something different.

No 1.5 non vtec motor is safe for boost, the rods are about the thickness of your pointer finger.

wait a sec, how do you have a ek hatch with a 1.5 in it? Was there an older engine swapped in there before you got it because all 96-00 "EK" hatches come with the d16y7 which is a 1.6 liter. Granted those rods aren't as beefy as its dohc cousins but its not much different then the y8 rods. I boosted my y8 for about 3 years now at 240whp.

I think you may have gotten the short end of that deal. What does the engine code say on the front of the engine?
