car wont start
i have a 95 gsr and the starter turns over when i crank it but the engine never catches if that makes sense. I was thinking its not getting spark bc i hear fuel pump kick on. are there any spark tests i can do to test? for spark plug...distributor etc...
My 94 LS has a similar problem, and I'm stuck to the point where I'm giving up. I'm close to selling it for whatever offer. Engine cranks but no spark whatsoever. What I have determined so far:
-Fuel is being delivered
-Initially I tried the simple stuff when it died on the road, different plugs and coil with no affect
-Towed it back home and did spark tests, no spark from wires
-Buddy of mine came over and we did the ignition coil test (with a new coil) and found nothing coming from coil
-Figured possible TDC sensor, ICM, or whatever else in the dizzy, so replaced with a known working dizzy from another Teg (So ICM, Coil, any dizzy sensors we figured were ruled out at this point), STILL no spark...now we were at the WTF stage
-Main Relay issue possibility, okay... did the resolder/reflow fix on ALL points in the relay (as many have insisted on doing to fix the relay problem) still no affect. Just for ***** and giggles, my Buddy came by with his relay and tried his working relay with no affect. Double WTF now.
-ECM failure (but this had the lowest likelihood of failure so saved for last) possibility so had the same buddy bring over his ECM, plugged in and of course....no affect. Triple WTF.
I did the advanced Ignition testing from TI's site (very helpful I might say) and the only thing I couldn't get going was the light flashing at the end of page 5, which means a bad ICM. But the different dizzy had a working ICM and that still didnt work after we installed his so my buddy and I are at the theory of a bad wire or combination of wires within the harness causing problems, but we're not sure.
What was odd was that my Vehicle Speed Sensor plug corroded away many months before and was not hooked up, but right before my Teg died on the road the speedo needle was shooting up everywhere. That had again had me confused because the wires were cut and hooked up to nothing (yeah I know, totally reckless, unsafe, ghetto, and whatever else you're thinking I concur, just didnt have the cash to pop in another one at the time). Not sure if this even is related or means anything, but not basing this as a lead in my issue...but something I am noting just in case it is related.
I have read about others finding a bad wire from parts of the harness and "repairing" them which fixed their issue but I really dont look forward to doing harness spelunking. I guess seeing that I'm at my wits end, does anyone have a suggestion for what to do next?
