noob to the community
my pops just handed me over his 91 honda civic hatch. i have never owned a honda and know nothing about them. i can tell you guys this. it has no power anything, no windows locks or anything like that. it has a 4 speed standard transmission and is slower than s***. runs pretty decent for a DD and plan on making it a little faster.
this is my situation, i come from a subaru background and know how to work on them pretty well. however hondas are a completely different animal and i have no idea how to make it any power out of it.... is there any sticky here i can read and find out how to make my honda a decent fast car. how would i be able to find out what model it is????

i was thinking of going on the N/A way for the moment..... ive done boosted cars for the last 5 years. i want a all motor thing know. boosting is last on the list
Well if you have any intentions of making it fast like you said your only alternative is a swap and building the motor. I guess it all depends on how "fast" you want it of course.
well what i want to know is what exactly i can swap in it, price etc...... mods needed to make the swap complete. stuff like that would help out of extremely.
your car is the std model, 4 speed tranny gave that away. and you are correct, the std doesn't have squat. no clock, no 5 speed trans, no intermittent wipers, no mpfi, no rear hatch wiper, smaller hubs, et cetera.
the first thing you'll want to do if you plan on making any power is converting it to mpfi. not only will it make your current engine be quicker, but its necessary if you want to swap any d/b/k/h/f series engine in there.

It would also be a great upgrade to swap out the 4 speed trans for a 5 speed si tranny.
It's up to you to decide which engine swap might best suit your needs. d-series would be easier, cheaper, and it will drop right in. b-series is going to take more work and more money, but it would be worth it in the end. k-series swaps are still crazy expensive so you'd better have deep pockets if you're considering going with one.
oh, and check out the faq. lots of good stuff there

second. Yeah if you want power in the form of N/A, just swap in a b-series engine.

swap in a A6 cam (with a y7 cam gear mind you) and get a Z6 or Y8 intake, and a decent header...you should be fine after that.
