Ok my build is finally done. I have a 99 ls in my ef hatch. I just rebuilt the ls head with a semi port and polish, 3 angle valve job, crower valve springs and retainers, crower 404's. My tuner told me to start it and let it idle for a little bit on the stock ecu, just dont give it gas. I started it and everything seemed fine. He gave me the ecu with the chip inside already so when he comes over it would be ready for him so it is basically a stock pr4 ecu just with a chip that hasn't been chipped yet. I know i need a tune before i drive the car i am not going to drive the car untuned. My question is My car is smoking a lot from the exhaust is this normal because it is probably running really rich or lean. I am just scared something else might be wrong and i hope not.

white smoke i didn't let mine idle for that long. And the idle is really high on idle its like at 1500. I think it smokes cuz its untuned and the ecu is like spazzing out lol
White smoke typically is coolant being burned. This is NOT normal on engine start-up. Also when you are first starting a motor it is not normal to let the car idle for "30 minutes". Please rethink your process.

Its a brand new head gasket and i am pretty sure i put it on right. No one thinks its the bad untuned ecu? I also have a check engine light on even when the 02 sensor is plugged in. I think the ecu is all f'ed up ima get the car tuned this weekend.

and it doesn't smoke like soo much its just a little bit. I havn't gave it gas yet cuz i was told not to give it gas on the stock ecu. I still dont know y it revs so high.
Unless you have condensation in your exhaust white smoke only comes from water. Coolant has water in it so therefore it would be burning coolant. Pull your plugs and read them if you are not sure.
The tune would not cause your engine to pour out white smoke... only black if anything...
