Default 2006 Pilot Trans Questions

I have a 2006 Pilot and have some concerns with the trans..

1. Hard shifting sometimes when lifting foot from accelerator and then replacing fott back even softly like in stop and go traffic it shifts or kicks in hard. IS THIS NORMAL???

2. Its seems that the clutches are holding a little to long causing jerky shifts at 40 and 50mph. IS THIS NORMAL???

Now this is the first auto-trans car or truck that I have driven in years. I have taken to three dealerships and they say its fine. But I have test driven others and they do not do the same thing.

Some dealers say something about grade-logic trans could this be the problem that I am having??

I have a 09 Odyssey. We can debate which parts are the same, modified, etc.

I was a bit surprise how jerky and clunkly the transmission is, in certain situations. Check with Ody guys, and they said this is "normal."

People have said two things.

1. A bit disppointing that modern electronics have not smooth out the transmission shifts for LARGE Hondas.

2. Honda make the transmission "tighter" to handle the LARGE body weight.

Now the biggest pain is when going around 35-45 and you lift your foot to coast a second and then reapply your foot and there is a jerk in the engine and trans almost like it quick downshifted or something but it doesnt.. Kind of confusing but I hope you understand. Have you heard of this? Or does your van do this also?
Thanks Again

as i have recently learned v6 honda auto trans suck, some generations more than others, but if you have any kind of warranty i would not hesitate to take it in and have it checked. b/c it is likely your problems will worsen, so you need to get a record of this and have each service documented, b/c ive read to many stories were honda has screwed people on their transmission warranties

I noticed it more in the 20MPH range (slight decline off the gas). The dealers already said it's OK, no much else you can do. Yes. My $10K (08) Chevy Cobalt shift smoother than my $36K 09 Honda.

I've researched this before buying my Ody. The info I gather was there's been two updates since the"problem trans" of the earlier gen. Only time and miles will tell if the improvements are the solution.

I did consider a 09 Pilot too. The "trans problem" issue does not really come up. Of course you'll find that one or two. Meaning not the massive cry from the Ody side.

Maybe a few things are a bit more "heavy duty."
