HELP....URGENT....Did a a6 head swap and mpfi .......runs...but has some oil leaking!
Okay so I spent 3 days doin this swap......ive replaced the head for a SI motor...(same year=90) and converted everything to mpfi.....
So far everything runs......and im not throwing any codes....the timing is even right as far as I can tell...I havent really been able to take it for a drive....
BUT: Ive got oil leaking from the back of the block.....at first it was hardcore so me and my friends took off the oil filter...cleaned it (new one BTW) and put it back on making sure the threads were totally aligned.
It started to only drip a lil oil.....but we still cant figure it out.....and the worst part is it seems to be coming from the top of the oil filter.....like around the oil pressure sensor and such......we cant figure it out....my block was in good shape and didnt leak oil at all before this???
I used a OEM head gasket...and im not leaking any coolant or anything so I dont think thats bad???
I dont know whats wrong?

Hey honda tech members thanks for the help....it always seems my ?'s never get awsnered when im truley in a bind.....
Oh well.....so I worked at it some more......tightened some krap down....and ive come to one conclusion.....it has to be the headgasket......
I came to this after I said **** it and decided to drive it up and down my street.....hehehe...woohhhooo bad idea......besides the car being alot quicker and hearing alot more throattier sound from the engine(mpfi conv.) I had a TON of white smoke just spewing outta my exhaust......so I took it back home....and sure enough wet runny white smoke.....I blew the head gasket fo sheezy...come to look harder its leaking in a few other spots....
Luckily my best friend (entityhatch) has a new headgasket he bought for his car but isnt goin to use it....so tomorrow I get to take the head back off and put on a new headgasket....wish me luck...

u get teh gaslet from honda???? did u clean the head and teh block before mating them??? if so how did u clean them????u didnt gouge teh surface thats bad if u did....uhhh might be leaking around teh oil jet squirter
Thats exactly wehre im looking.....I checked out my manual and check that out....
I was like im leaking right around the jet......
Now can I get to that without taking my head off I dont remember seeing it from like 3 days ago when My head was off.....and no my headgasket was bought at oreilys the said it was pretty much close to stock......well they said it was the stock gasket.....
I will say this...I put it on fairly roughly....like moved it around alot...and banged it up pretty good...theres a chance it broke before the damn thing was even put on.....
Oh well....I dont want to rip everyting apart again....my main idea is to just take off the nesscary colant lines.....unbolt the head....and lift it up(actually have two friends lift it up)....while I put a new gasket on the head bolts...and put it down gently and tighten it up.....

ohhh man poor motor first dont ever buy a headgasket anywhere but honda teh stock gasket was recalled cause it was junk they have since upgraded to metal gasket.... second teh oil jet it inbetween #2 and #3 pistons u cant get to it from anywhere but under the head...how did u clean the area.....stock headbolts strech so u shouldnt reuse them either im sure u got new ones from honda riiight???? they are 9 dollars a peice btw and u need 10....the gasketis 40 or so from honda also
I am using new head bolts but ive got ARP's I can use now.....I suppose Ill buy a new headgasket......from honda...
let me get this right as well.....you torque down the head in the correct sequence to 22 ft. lbs. then do it again in the same sequence and do it to 53 right?? for the final tightening.???
to clean it I used a screw driver....a very very thin putty knife...and I even used a lil bit of sand paper to clean it up a lil.....but not much scraping at all...

Im not sure if you would know by chance.....but do you think my local honda dealer will have them on hand...or will I have to wait a couple days.....because I want to do this tomorrow if not by friday atleast have the car ready adn on the road.
Remember, the head gasket has two sides.. one is supposed to be facing up... you can put a head gasket on wrong folks... make sure you put it on with the right side up next time, torque it to spec. and you should be fine.
