who runs a water temperature guage?

wtf? why don't you just splice into the 1 wire water temp. sender on the side of the head? you guys actually drill the neck?
Hey guys. I'm looking to hook my water temp. gauge up this weeek. I just took some pics of the locations I think you guys are referring to. My father told me that I can just remove the sensor in the first pic and add the Autometer sender there. He said that is the gauge cluster temp. sensor and I won't need it with the new tempereature gauge. The hose is the lower radiator hose:

Another pic backed out a little:

In the pic below is the location where the upper radiator hose enters the motor:

Correct me if I am wrong. But, from this post there are 2 different locations stated for the water neck location:
Redline130 -- I put my sender in the water neck, right before the thermostat. I drilled and tapped it. Works good for me so far.
speedymon -- The water neck the upper radiator hose is connected to. I believe the flow is in that direction.
My thermostat is located inline with the lower radiator hose.
Thanks for any help!!
BTW >> Motor is a 98 GSR (usdm)

I put mine in between the eacv hoses, I did not feel like drilling into my thermostat housing because then I would need to drain my hole coolant system to make sure no metal shaving were in there. I used a t fitting and some hose attachments so the hose would slip on. I'll post a picture of it later.

Because you won't get an accurate reading by using that sender.
