So i have a b18 tranny with just a aftermart clutch. but anyways it just started grinding when i shift into 4th and 5th gear. And it sticks and grinds bad when im on the highway and go from 5th to 4th. I havnt changed out the tranny fluid in 2 years. could this be why? or are my syncros goin???? it shifted like butter about 3weeks ago and then now this.

i have no idea what it could be and im short on cash.

 

I think you've answered your own question.

Failure to change or check tranny fluid level, I'll bet you smoked 5th gear and countershaft bearings from lack of oil.

 

****... if i change it out asap you think it will be ok????? i have never drained a tranny so it will be new to me i normally dont keep the same car long enough to do this.

30 bucks, pick up some synchromesh. It's been said that it gets rid of some people's grinds.

It's a common issue. Don't trip, chicken strip.

 

syncromesh will work if its not to far gone, check your shifter and stabalizer bushings on the linkage.
