So I have been having problems with my 99 crv, has 140k. It starts, runs for 5-10 seconds then dies. Sometimes it starts easy, sometimes not so much. No CELS. It started last week when I was driving, it would hesitate and chug and not do anything when I was driving then it would kick back on. The motor didnt shut off, but I would give it gas and it would not respond. Then yesterday it died when I was sitting at a light and would not turn over. I got it started it and drove it a mile back home...barely.
Im guessing its an ignition/fuel problem. A couple months ago I threw 6 or 7 cels for ignition/misfire...When I pulled off the old cap there was a bunch of blue sap like crap all over inside the cap...not sure what that was? put in new cap/rotor/plugs/wires/fuel filter and it ran fine, and I erased the codes. Ran with no problems until this week.
I put on a new fuel pump, but same problem...took that pump back and put the oem one back in. Im thinking of picking up a new distributer and seeing if that helps. I was going to do all the resistance tests, but there is a striped screw on the coil. Not sure what else I could do. Any help would be appreciated.

I havent checked the valves yet, but could that also be the problem?
I heard a tight valve will cause failure of the valve and decrease engine vacuum which will effect the MAP sensor...
